Viva el Espanol, a non-profit Spanish Language and Culture Center serving children, came to the Fieldhouse and set up a wonderful Spanish immersion camp the week before school started. The kids enjoyed learning Spanish under the theme Pirates of the “Caribe.” They had daily treasure hunts, wore eye patches, and even played a little mermaid for the princesses in the camp. The final presentation at the end of camp was very impressive with the kids singing songs, telling stories, and reciting in Spanish. It was a great start to the school year for the kids, especially for those in the Dual-Immersion program at Washington. We look forward to having them back next year!!
