3rd Annual Planting Day

In honor of Earth Day, PRAM will be hosting its 3rd Annual Planting Day event on Sunday, April 22, from 10–12. Kids and adults alike enjoy this day by helping us plant our spring vegetable garden. Activites include: planting, creating garden markers and seed germination to take home to your own garden. Light refreshments and snacks will be available.

After School Eco-Program

Does your kid like to get dirty and enjoy the outdoors? If so, this program is for them. PRAM is offering an Afterschool Eco-Program where children will help to build and prepare our Spring Vegetable Garden. They will experience soil cultivating, pulling weeds, watering existing plants, identifying bugs in the garden and enjoy a health snack while learning about it’s nutrition value. One day, we will have Special Guest, Jean Brady of Brady Barefoot Books, who will do a special activity with the kids and one day we will build a ladybug habitat.
Children are encouraged to bring their own gloves if they don’t want to get their hands dirty. This is a drop-off class.

Ages: 3–4, 5+ (kids will be grouped by age category)
Day/Time: March 22–April 19 (Thursdays) 3:30–5:00 pm
Location: PRAM Garden at Fieldhouse

Program Fee: $50.00 per family, fee goes toward garden materials, tools, snacks & ladybug habitat.

Art Class for Toddlers

The current art classes are for children 4 years and up. Alice Duvernell would also love to do an art class for 2 and 3 year olds, but wanted to find out if there would be at least 8 kids interested. This class will only be one hour long, so the cost will be less than the art classes for older kids. The catch is, that Alice is not available in the mornings, so it would have to be on either a Thursday or Friday afternoon. If you are interested, please email Kim at thekimbutt@gmail.com.

Art, Crafts & Body Movement

Art is back at Pram!

This very special curriculum is designed for growing self-confidence in art and our creative strengths in a non-performing environment.

Teacher and art therapist, Alice Duvernell will be starting every session with yoga, vocals and meditation. Each child will be invited to tune into its body and relax while strengthening concentration and coordination. Children will be initiated to the amazing power of breath in art and bodywork. Unusual Art projects for the following three sessions will be based on a blend of Native American art, Asian and modern design and multi-media. This class is suitable for boys and girls and for the ones looking to find challenge and expression through art.

Level 1: Ages 4, 5 and 6 – Pre-K and Kindergarten years

Days: Tuesday from 2pm to 3.45pm

Session 1: 3/13/2012 to 4/4/2012

Session 2: 4/17/2012 to 5/8/2012

Session 3: 5/22/2012 to 6/5/2012

Cost: Session 1 & 2: $64 + $25 material fee

Session 3: $48 + $20 material fee

Level 2: Ages 6 to 12 – 1^st to 6^th Grade

Days: Wednesday from 2.05 to 4 pm

Teacher Alice Duvernell will pick up children at Washington Elementary at 2.05 pm, Please notify teachers, thank you.

Mom’s Night Out at the Nova Studio 2/23

Join other PRAM mom’s for an evening of eye shadow making at the Nova Studio in Point Richmond. Everyone would take home 5 customized loose powder eye shadows, each one in a 5 gram jar (small). Lori Nova (soon to be first time mom) will give a talk about the raw materials, & provide a 1 or 2 page instruction sheet.
The class will be very hands on, very fun, very easy, & allows for mingling & chatting. Pram will provide snacks and drinks.When: Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, 6–8 pm

Family and Estate Planning Presentation

Family and Estate Planning Presentation with Doris Mitchell, Feb. 16

Doris Mitchell, a local attorney and PRAM mom has offered to give a presentation to PRAM families focusing on family and estate planning.

A focus of Doris’ practice is families and helping them protect their wealth and family.This includes drafting wills with guardian nominations, and advanced health care directives and durable powers of attorney that clearly state what is to happen when

the parents can’t take care of themselves. Having such documents in place can avoid leaving family members a mess and the difficult task of petitioning for conservatorship.

Presentation:

For the presentation, Doris will discuss what is meant by guardianship and how it works. She will also cover what documents can be included in an estate plan and how you can determine whether they are appropriate for your family.

Jelly Jam Creative Movement Class

Jelly Jam is a movement class taught by professionally trained performer, Risa Dye. Risa works as a preschool teacher in Berkeley and has years of experience performing and working with young children. Jelly Jam is an age-appropriate class using play and movement to learn about the life within and around us! Jelly Jam is an exercise in creativity and imagination. It is exploration and adventure! It combines storytelling and dramatic arts with dance and movement. In Jelly Jam class, we create a story with our bodies and voices. Through games and exercises, we break down the elements of a story and become the many players. We turn into spiders, doors, the sky, Goldilocks and the three bears, all in one day.

When: Tuesdays 3:00-3:30
4 week session from February 7 -28
Price: $10/class ($40 for the entire session)

Little Chefs visit the Boilerhouse Restaurant!

In November the Little Chef’s playgroup had a fieldtrip to the Boilerhouse Restaurant where they were taught to make homemade pizza! Enjoy our gallery below. It was a great day for all. Thanks so much everyone at the Boilerhouse for doing this for our kids. Lets do it again!
