PRAM Board Member Rebecca Mitchell is going to print out copies of a guide to making a simple bracelet at home. She will leave guides and materials in a box at PRAM on Sunday - first come, first served! Rebecca's note: "It's a retro project that parents might remember making! Definitely an activity for older children." Recommended for 7 years and up.

Rebecca will also provide heart cut outs and instructions for you to use for relief paintings like the lovely ones above. While supplies last!

SHARE THE PEACE: Giving Back as a Family

PRAM continues the tradition of "Share the Peace", an annual giving event conceived by Pascale Harkness and her mother Carrie Cartier. It is never too early to introduce your child to the concept of "giving back"!

TWO WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE!

#1. THANK YOUS FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

“Do you know a child who would like to send a note or drawing to a health care worker? Now you can download and share a special coloring page to get kids started.”

You can drop off your note(s) in the PRAM Fieldhouse mailslot or in the box next to the piano - we will take them to the post office on the afternoon of FRIDAY DECEMBER 18. We’ll be mailing them in a batch to KP Public Affairs for distribution to Kaiser hospitals. You can also hand-deliver your art to any healthcare provider, email it to CaringforOurCommunity@kp.org, or mail it yourself to KP Public Affairs: 1650 Response Rd, Sacramento CA 95815.

Download the coloring page HERE. Or create your own note - no size restrictions!

Notes dropped off at PRAM after December 18 will be taken to the post office later - they won’t get there in time for Christmas, but that’s still OK!

#2. CARDS FOR HOMEBOUND SENIORS

“Let one of our Meals on Wheels seniors know that people care about them during the holidays… for many of our seniors, the card you make may be the only card they receive during celebratory or difficult times.”

You can drop off your card(s) in the PRAM Fieldhouse mailslot or in the box next to the piano up until SUNDAY DECEMBER 20. We’ll be delivering them in a big batch to the SF Meals on Wheels office on Monday the 21st.

GUIDELINES

  • Parents, please help with writing the message clearly, and let your kiddo go to town with their artwork.

  • Cards must be small enough to fit into our delivery bags - 4.25x5.5” max. An 8.5x11 piece of paper folded in half and in half again works well.

  • Do not use glitter, macaroni, or other types of decorations that can easily come off.

  • Envelopes are NOT needed.

  • Remember, seniors often have poor eyesight. Keep print large and avoid cursive.

  • Do not sign the cards, with your name nor PRAM’s name. It confuses many of their senior clients.

  • Please avoid irony, slang, puns or jokey cards. Think of kind, sincere and joyful messages and images.

  • Please do not use any language that pertains to a specific religion.

IDEAS FOR MESSAGES

  • Write “Season’s Greetings” on the front of every card and a positive message on the inside.

  • “Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season!”

  • “Happy Holidays!”

  • “Wishing you the gift of good cheer this holiday season!”

  • “Holiday Cheer and Happy New Year!”

  • “Best wishes for a holiday season filled with joy!”

  • “Wishing you comfort. hope and joy for the holidays and always!”

  • “Wishing you a warm and happy winter season!”

SHARE THE PEACE origin story: "Pascale and I have been discussing how we might create new traditions around the holidays considering all the change in our lives. This morning she woke with a beautiful thought! She wants to take care packages to the homeless people she sees. She wants to attach cards that say "Share the peace."! I honestly can't think of a better tradition than that. What better way to lift our own spirits than to lift up others?" -Carrie Cartier, (Pascy's mom).

PRAM kids: we need you! (With a little help from a grown-up)

We’re collecting mini-testimonials from PRAM parents and kids of all ages and generations, 0-18, to air during the PRAM hour of the Masquers Virtual Festival on Tuesday, December 1st at 5pm. They're planning a full day of music, dance, performances, community spotlights, and fun activities, including storytime and a visit from Santa. This is a fundraiser for PRAM and Masquers, and our hour will be from 5-6pm.

What do I do?

Open your cameraphone and video record your kid(s) (or yourself) talking about PRAM!

What do we talk about?

"I love PRAM because..."
"My favorite thing to do at PRAM is..."
"The best thing about PRAM is..."
"My favorite memory at PRAM is the time when..."
"PRAM is important to my family because..."

How long should it be?

Anything between 5 seconds and 1 minute would be fabulous.

When do you need it by?

Sunday November 29 would be ideal.

How do I send it in?

Email it to prampresident@gmail.com.

How can we watch everyone's testimonials?

Starting at 5pm on Tuesday, December 1st, you can join PRAM at the festival on

youtube
facebook
the Masquers' website

Where will the video live after the event is over?

Masquers will archive the Festival on its website.

What is this Virtual Festival all about? Where can I learn more?

We are so grateful for you. Wishing you a happy and safe Thanksgiving!

Outdoor Child Portraits for Families December 5th!

Hi PRAM families!

I hope this note finds your family in good health and spirits in spite of the challenges around us! If there’s one thing we can all agree on these days, it’s that 2020 has been a year full of surprises. But here’s one I hope you’ll like!

image004.jpg

I’ll be providing my outdoor, socially-distanced fine art child portraits outside the Washington Fieldhouse (AKA PRAM Clubhouse) on Saturday morning, December 5th, for toddlers through school-age children. You can see recent portraits with the same set up in my Instagram feed @shellyrivoliphotography (the same on Facebook).

There’s no fee up front and you’ll pay only for the photos you want—ordered safely and easily through your online gallery on my website—with pandemic-friendly pricing for this special photo event.

image006.jpg

With my Fine Art Student & Child Portraits, you’ll get:

More of a timeless, gift-worthy look than traditional school photos

variety of expressions to choose from

Professionally edited versions to choose from of each image in color and black and white

The opportunity to overlap siblings for additional photos together

The option to add retouching for a blemish, bruise, or scratch

Options to buy archive-quality print packages starting at $25 or individual photos from wallet size to 11 x 14

And/or you can purchase your choice of high-resolution digital files ($25 each or full gallery from $55) ready to plug into your holiday card or use for any purpose you see fit for all eternity (print release included)!

image008.jpg

How does this work exactly – in the crazy year 2020?

1.      Simply book a time slot – with consecutive time slots for siblings you’d like to overlap – using my handy-dandy booking calendar. You’ll provide all the information I’ll need for your appointment and following up with the link to your online photo gallery, and I’ll send a confirmation to let you know we’re all set.

2.      On photo day, I’ll be set up at the designated outdoor location (the back covered porch near the playground) and ready to greet your kiddos. Please arrive 5 minutes before your time slot to get checked in and make any final adjustments (a fresh combing and smile/booger check are highly recommended!). I’ll do my best to capture your child’s personality through a variety of expressions. (Some kids go to town on this while others are more reserved, so some children will have more options to choose from in their galleries.)

3.      Approximately one week from photo day, you’ll receive a link to your child’s gallery and instructions for how to view and order which prints you’d like or digital downloads. PRINT ORDERS MUST BE IN BY THE DEADLINE SPECIFIED on delivery, about 7 days. Digital files will still be available for purchase after that, but I need all print orders in together to be able to offer this special pricing.

Pro tip: Parents, you are encouraged to KINDLY step back during the photographing—it helps establish a better connection between me and my subject and capture those precious, authentic expressions!

Safety precautions: The session will be completely contactless other than the stool kids sit upon, which will be sanitized in between uses. Everyone is expected to wear masks except for the child or siblings while being actively photographed, and maintain a safe distance of at least 6 feet. Thank you!

QUESTIONS? Answers below!

When will we get our pictures?

Digital images are delivered instantly, and I should have printed photos ready for pick up within two weeks of submitting your order. I will arrange a time for in-person pick up at the Washington Fieldhouse as soon as their ready, or you can opt to have your prints shipped to your address.

What about possible rain, smoke, locusts or murder hornets?

In the event that conditions will not be favorable for outdoor photography, I will roll the date forward and give everyone booked the first chance to confirm a new time slot before opening it up to others. In the event that your child is sick (or someone in your family has a positive coronavirus test), please let me know if you won’t be able to honor your time slot in advance as a courtesy. Thanks!

What should my child wear?

Shades lighter than black, and darker than white tend to be the best for these portraits. I strongly recommend avoiding tops with bold graphics and WORDS. Solid colors or subtle patterns are usually the best bets. Also, for kiddos with long enough hair, I recommend wearing it down rather than pulled back (ponytail, etc.).

So, how do I book our time slot(s)?

Hop over to https://shellyrivoli.as.me/students to book your time slot(s) for December 5th in Point Richmond. I look forward to seeing you there!

Any other questions? Feel free to send me a message to shelly@shellyrivoli.com and make sure to add me to your safe senders list so you don’t miss any important messages about your portraits!

Best,
